From ore to opportunity: forging connections with Vietnam
Home to the second-largest rare earth minerals deposit in the world, Vietnam stands as a pivotal player in the high-tech manufacturing and semiconductor industries. Similarly, Utah’s mining resources and large community of tech companies offer valuable international partnership opportunities.
It was an honor host Vietnamese Consul General and former Ambassador Hoang Anh Tuan on Wednesday, March 13 at 12 p.m. for a lunch conversation with Utah companies specializing in high-tech and semiconductor production, as well as rare earth minerals.
This event was hosted in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and the Salt Lake Chamber.
Consul General Ambassador Hoang Anh Tuan
Ambassador Hoang Anh Tuan has served as Consul General of the Vietnam Consulate General in San Francisco since November 2022. Prior to assuming this position, Ambassador Tuan served in various positions such as vice president of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, deputy secretary-general of ASEAN for Political-Security Community and the ambassador of Vietnam to Indonesia and concurrently the non-resident ambassador of Viet Nam to Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste. Ambassador Tuan has worked at think-thanks around the world and has published extensively on Vietnamese foreign policy. His wife Dr. Le Thi Tuyet Mai is a representative to the United Nations and WTO in Geneva, and they have two grown sons.
